When you study journalism you are consistently reminded that studying is not enough! Although this is the case with most vocations, when it comes to finding journo work, you may as well have a degree in basket weaving if you have no experience to back this up.
I have some very specific ideas about where i would like to get some work experience, and have to decided to list them all here to remind me that i need to organise this soon, preferably before i graduate!
I would like some experience in the area of community relations: So the Community Relations Commision seems a good idea. Although not a media specific area, the CRC deal with the media and examine its role in the community.
I would love to write for Mosaic Magazine in the future. This multicultural publication is produced by SBS and FECCA , (also would like works experience at these places!) and provides a specialized focus on multicultural issues.
